The bubble isn't the story; the story is the story selling it. Everyone's framing this as RWA expansion, as progress toward institutional adoption. Nobody's asking the uncomfortable question: what happens when a low-liquidity, high-yield bond meets DeFi's liquidation engine?
Context: From Treasury Bills to Trash
Securitize has been the poster child for regulated tokenization. Their partnership with BlackRock on the BUIDL fund put them at the center of the RWA narrative. But BUIDL is backed by US Treasuries — arguably the safest asset on earth. HINC is different. It's a tokenized representation of below-investment-grade corporate debt, the kind of paper that pays 8-12% because the market expects some of it to default.
Loopscale, for its part, is building a lending protocol that accepts tokenized assets as collateral. The integration is straightforward: borrowers pledge HINC, lenders provide stablecoins or other assets, and the protocol manages the risk through collateral ratios and liquidations.
On paper, this is the natural evolution of RWA. We've done Treasuries, we've done private credit, we've done real estate. Junk bonds were the next logical step. But logical doesn't mean safe.
Core: The Liquidation Engine Wasn't Built for This

Here's the counter-intuitive angle nobody's addressing. Securitize markets itself as the regulated, compliant bridge between traditional finance and DeFi. But the moment HINC lands on Loopscale, that compliance narrative starts to fracture.
Loopscale isn't registered as a securities exchange. It's a DeFi protocol operating with pseudonymous code and global accessibility. When U.S. investors pledge HINC as collateral, they're participating in a securities transaction on an unregistered platform. The SEC has been circling this exact scenario for years.
The compliance theater — KYC on issuance, whitelisted holders, transfer restrictions — creates the illusion of regulatory safety while the actual lending activity happens in the wild west of DeFi. I've audited enough tokenized securities to know that the restrictions are enforced at the token level, but the protocols interacting with them rarely implement equivalent safeguards.
This isn't a critique of Securitize's intentions. It's an observation about structural friction. When an asset designed for regulated rails gets plugged into permissionless infrastructure, someone's assumptions break. Usually it's the investor's.
